The Henry and Stark County Health Department are honoring Infant Immunization Week. The goal is to convince parents to get needed immunizations to prevent such things as Measles and other illnesses that have long been dormant thanks to immunization. Unfortunately, misinformation during the pandemic caused some to skip needed immunizations. This has made it a necessity for the Health Department to underline the importance of getting vaccinated. It's urgent for kids to get immunized against Measles, among other illnesses to prevent these illnesses from making a full comeback. 

Linda Pont from the Kewanee Public Library joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to invite everyone to come and meet author, Becca Kinzer, a Kewanee native who is celebrating the release of her new book, Love in Tandem, a romantic comedy. Becca will talk about her book and sign copies at the Kewanee Public Library on Saturday afternoon at 2PM. It's a great chance to meet and pick the brain of an author with ties to Kewanee and who has experienced incredible success in the publishing world. Linda talked to WKEI about what went in to bringing Becca back to Kewanee for this event and about The Friends of the Library and what they do for the Kewanee Public Library. 

Amy Meyer, a Licensed Clinical Therapist from the CGH Behavioral Health Unit. Amy was here to talk about how the CGH Behavioral Health Unit helps those suffering from mental health conditions and Mental Health Awareness Month in May.

Today one of our Irving Third graders, Hazel, dropped by WKEI this morning with The Good News about Administrative Professionals Day and a special shout out to Irving School's very own Administrative Professional, Ms. Johnson. 

Galva Mayor Rich Volkert was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday. The mayor joined us to talk about finally settling a dispute over parking regulations in Galva. A nine month discussion among Galva citizens and the City of Galva closed on Monday with a compromise that appears to have settled the matter. The Mayor addresses the parking kerfuffle and then goes on to cover other important aspects of Monday's Galva City Council Meeting. The next Galva City Council Meeting will be earlier next month. Mayor Volkert explained that with Memorial Day falling on Monday, May 26th, the City needed to move the date for next month's meeting to the previous week. 

Ruth Kapacinskas with the Kewanee Education Association joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday morning. Leadership elections are going on into the month of May for the Kewanee Education Association and as the recent new contract between the KEA and the Kewanee School District demonstrated, choosing the right leaders is incredibly important. Ruth spoke to WKEI RegionalMediaNews.com about the positions that will be voted on and how the leadership and structure of the Kewanee Education Association works. The results of the leadership election will be announced next month. 

The Radiology Department at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center has new equipment that is expanding their services and giving more patients the chance to get treatment closer to home. Josh Bainbridge and Shelly Naftzger with the Radiology and Imaging Department at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about new technology, the difference between a CT and an MRI, and what it means to get to help patients stay closer to home. Josh and Shelly, along with Samantha Rux were our guests this week on Wake Up Tri-Counties.
