Wethersfield Third Grade students, Julia Burrows, Rachel Dana, and Rose Giesenhagen, joined Jennifer in the studio to bring the "Good News" about Veterans Day and the Veterans Day Service at Wethersfield High School on Monday, November 11th. 

The Salvation Army in Kewanee has scheduled its Christmas campaign, starting with a media kickoff on November 15th. Eddie Toliver joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about the upcoming events for the Kewanee Salvation Army. Highlights include the Bear versus Packers event on November 16th and the Santa versus Grinch event on November 30th, from 12 to 3 PM. The campaign will feature a Christmas concert on December 15th at the First Congregational Church, with proceeds supporting local initiatives. Additionally, the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs will participate on December 14th and December 21st, respectively. Angel Tree gift tags are up at Walmart in Kewanee, and pickups are set for December 19th and December 20th at the 360 Life Center.

Today, at the start of the General Assembly's fall veto session, State Representative Dan Swanson took a moment to pay tribute to veterans past and present. Following Veterans Day, Swanson presented House Resolution 878, honoring the valiant soldiers from Galesburg who served in the Civil War. These men were part of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment, an instrumental unit in the fight to end slavery in the United States. Swanson's recognition serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy and sacrifices of those who fought for freedom and equality in one of the nation's darkest times.

Tami Harker and Kerry Blume joined Samantha Rux on Wake Up Tri-Counties to discuss Diabetes Awareness.  November is Diabetes Awareness Month and November 14th is World Diabetes Day. 

In Illinois, a significant initiative spearheaded by State Senator Dave Koehler (D-Peoria) is set to enhance the understanding and appreciation of the Underground Railroad's historical impact. The newly recommended Illinois Freedom Trails Commission aims to integrate and expand educational and tourism projects connected to this pivotal period in American history. This plan, developed by the Underground Railroad Task Force, envisions a connected network of sites celebrating the journeys of those who sought freedom from slavery. By collaborating with various organizations and neighboring states, the commission seeks to ensure that the brave legacies of freedom seekers and those who assisted them are honored and remembered. Senator Koehler emphasizes that this effort is crucial for moving forward while fully acknowledging the past.
