The Kewanee Boilermakers wrapped up regular season play on a high note with their 22nd win of the season. The Boilermakers, led by Braden Clark who scored 26 to lead the Boilermakers to victory. The final score from Orion on Wednesday night, Kewanee 75 Orion 54. After the game, Coach Matt Clark joined Russ Hughes and Jeremy Peart in the booth for our Kewanee Boys Basketball Postgame Podcast interview.

In a raucous back and forth battle, the Kewanee Boilermakers finally overcame their longstanding rivals, the Princeton Tigers to win the Three Rivers Eastern Conference title on Tuesday night. The final score was 64 to 59. Despite not scoring in the first quarter, Braden Clark battled back and managed a season high 38 points in the overtime victory. After the emotional game, Coach Matt Clark joined Russ Hughes and Jeremy Peart in the booth to talk about the exciting victory and took look ahead at what is still to come this season.

The Mayor of Kewanee Gary Moore was our guest on Tuesday morning on WKEI to wrap up Monday's Kewanee City Council Meeting. In our conversation, the Mayor addressed changes to Liquor Licensing Fees as well as addressing gambling machines in the City of Kewanee. The City has capped the number of actual machines for gambling in the City of Kewanee. Only 12 more machines, 6 per remaining available liquor license, are available to those getting into business. The Mayor also discussed new body cam and dashcam cameras for the Kewanee Police. Specifically, these new cameras will upload to a Cloud System as back up to assure that footage is able to captured and kept safely.

The Kewanee Girls Basketball team ran into a buzzsaw on Monday night against the top ranked team from Peoria Notre Dame. The loss brought an end to the season for the Boiler Girls and while it was not the most ideal end to the season, Coach Nick Christakos found a number of positive things to say about his team and their effort all season long. In this postgame conversation with Russ Hughes, Coach Christakos talks about a tough loss, the end of the season, and the seniors who played their last game on Monday night in Peoria.

February is National Heart Health Month and one thing that has a significant effect on your heart health is your diet. Too much fat or sugar can have a detrimental effect on your heart health, especially if you have a history of heart issues in your family. Sara Umphleet from OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, along with Samantha Rux, joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Monday, February 12th to talk about Diet and Heart Health. Sara says there are healthy levels of fat and sugar and they can vary between men and woman. She also says to watch out for hidden extra sugar in items you might not think would have so much extra sugar.
