The City of Kewanee has signed a 5 year contract with Lakeshore Recycling Service to provide trash services to the City of Kewanee. In a tie vote broken by the Mayor himself, the contract was approved 3 to 2. Mayor Moore joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday, March 12th, to discuss the difficult choice he made in casting the deciding vote in approving the privatization of trash services. The Mayor also took time to address Air B N' B's in Kewanee, and newly reformed license fees. And, while the Mayor was with WKEI we announced that the Mayor will deliver his State of the City speech live on WKEI at 7 PM, on Wednesday, March 20th.

Wake Up Tri-Counties Kewanee High School Group Interpretation Team

Tonight at Kewanee High School the Group Interpretation Team will perform Barbie in the Brockman Gymnasium as a precursor to their performance this weekend on the road in competition. And the team would love it if you turned out in support. The event gets underway at 6 PM in the gym and then you can shift over the Petersen Auditorium for another competitive performance from the talented teens at Kewanee High School. This morning on Wake Up Tri-Counties, stand out members of the Group Interpretation Team including Cooper Bates, Isaac Lynes, Laryn Conley, and Barbie herself, Bethany VanWassenhove joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to invite you to see Barbie performed by the Group Interpretation team for Free tonight at 6 PM.

It's a full studio today as Sparks is joined by both Macomb Mayor Mike Inman and Savannah Ballard from the City of Macomb Marketing and Downtown Development Office to talk about the Small Business Competition Big Pitch event on Thursday, March 21st at Park Place in Macomb starting at 6:00 p.m.
It's all been building to this as the prospective business owners have been hard at work after attending the workshops, and now they'll making their pitches to a panel of experienced judges who will determine the three prize winners.

It's National Athletic Trainers Month and OSF Saint Luke Medical Center is celebrating one of their own in Emma Corkill, who joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Monday, along with Samantha Rux, to talk about what an Athletic Trainer does and the role she plays at Kewanee High School in the sports department. Emma partners with Coaches and staff to teach student athletes about weight training, injury prevention, and, after an injury, how to train safely for a return to the field. Emma works year round with numerous student athletes and she talked about her experience this morning with Wake Up Tri-Counties.

The new movie Imaginary is in theaters nationwide this weekend. The film follows a woman, played by DeWanda Wise, and her new family who move to New Orleans to live in her childhood home. There, she finds a teddy bear from her childhood and gives it to her new stepdaughter. What the woman doesn't know is that the Teddy Bear is imbued with an angry spirit, eager to take revenge on his former owner by harming the little girl. Tom Payne co-stars in Imaginary as the new husband of DeWanda's Jessica, and he joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Friday, March 8th, 2024, opening day in theaters for Imaginary, to talk about the movie, the horror genre, his time as Jesus on The Walking Dead, and his time working in theater.
