In a significant transition for Kewanee School District, Superintendent Dr. Chris Sullens is set to retire after 19 years of leadership. The district plans to celebrate his tenure and contributions with a retirement party on January 15th, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Cerno's Bar and Grill. Instead of traditional gifts, Dr. Sullens has requested donations for the Kewanee Care Closet. This initiative supports low-income students by providing essential items to enhance their school experience. The community is encouraged to contribute to this cause in honor of Dr. Sullens' dedication to education and student welfare.

The Kewanee City Wide Clean Up is set to take place this Saturday in Kewanee. You must have proof of Kewanee residence to participate. Keith Edwards, Kewanee's Director of Community Development joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday to talk about the items you can and cannot bring to the Kewanee City Wide Clean Up this Saturday. Hours for the City Wide Clean Up are 7 Am to 12 Noon. Show up any time if you'd like to volunteer to help unload vehicles, be sure to bring gloves. Otherwise, if you are dropping off items, be sure your vehicle is hand unloadable. The Kewanee City Wide Clean Up takes place at the former site of Kewanee Hospital on Elliott Street and Division in Kewanee. 

When Terrance Banks was young, he took up poetry as a coping mechanism for a difficult childhood. That poetry eventually became song lyrics and when combined with his love for old school soul music, Soultru was born. SoulTru comes from Terrance Banks' soul, his love of poetry and his dedication to the soul music that inspired him to become a musician. This weekend SoulTru is coming to the Levitt Amp Galva Music Series with his incredible brand of soul and poetry. We were lucky to have a chance to talk music, poetry and DoorDash with Terrance Banks, AKA, SoulTru on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Friday, May 24th. See Terrance in Galva on Sunday night. 

Parents and kids, take part in the Kewanee Library Summer Reading Program. Download the Beanstack App, in the App Store or on Google Play, on your Smartphone and you can track your Summer Reading along with your kids. Parents and kids are encouraged to participate together as a family for this year's Summer Reading Program. Meanwhile, the Kewanee Public Library has some events coming up including, on Tuesday, May 28th, an Ice Cream Social and meet and greet with the new Kewanee Public Library Director, Cynthia Maxwell. The event is a chance to get to know the new library director while you enjoy a sweet treat from 4 Pm to 6 Pm at the Kewanee Public LIbrary.
